The Federalist Society

The purpose of the Federalist Society is to foster critical thought and debate about the application of originalist, conservative and libertarian ideas to the American legal system. The Federalist Society embraces the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of powers is central to the Constitution of the United States of America, and that it is absolutely the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be. The Society's activities shall not be bound by any political, ideological, or religious viewpoints other than these three principles.
